Marketing Specialist or Event Planner?

One of the biggest unexpected joys working on a PR team for a school district was the amount of events we got to plan. My first year we planned 16 events and that number jumped to 23 the second year.
These events included: graduations, building openings/dedications, convocation, community engagement breakfasts and legislator events.
I know what you’re thinking. You’re saying to yourself, ‘Evan, people love going to school for different events. They probably are jumping at the chance to attend things.’ Well that’s a pretty good guess of how things might go, but it wasn’t like that necessarily at the beginning. As more and more events were loaded on our plate, we created surveys to asses how well our events were received and set benchmarks on what we considered successful. I assisted with catering, scheduling, building coordination, media coverage, event promotion and I loved it!
This page is more of a collection of images from events with short text about them than an explainer like other pages. I feel like much more can be added to this, so please feel free to ask me about this. Enjoy!
